MEXICO: Differences put aside as Blinken visits Mexico
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken headed up a delegation of officials that visited Mexico for the annual US-Mexico High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED) on 12 September. Both the Mexican and US delegations were keen to emphasise the success of the meeting, stressing the importance of bilateral relations and the mutual opportunities arising from them. This signalled a shift away from the antagonism that has characterised relations between the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and US administration of President Joe Biden in recent months due to disagreements over Mexico’s energy policies.
