Mexico displeased at new IDB head. On 20 November, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced that it had elected Brazilian economist and former central bank head Ilan Goldfajn as its new president. Goldfajn replaces Mauricio Claver-Carone, the US candidate nominated for the post under former president Donald Trump; Claver-Carone was fired on 26 September for abuse of power after an investigation into allegations that he had an intimate relationship with a subordinate whose salary underwent abnormal increases as she was rapidly promoted.
