FISCAL REFORM: Cetu under pressure

President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa bowed to pressure from business on 26 July and said that he would modify his key fiscal reform plan. The most likely change is that the government will lower the initial rate of the Contribución Empresarial a Tasa Unica (Cetu). The government has originally aimed to start the tax, which is aimed at bringing companies operating in the informal into the tax net, at 16%.
