PERU: State of emergency expanded as elections impasse continues

On 5 February Peru’s government declared a 60-day state of emergency in the regions of Madre de Dios, Arequipa, Apurímac and Moquegua, and extended for a further 60 days a state of emergency in Cusco, Puno, and Tacna.
