Earlier this month Alexis Medina, and Magalys Medina, both siblings of former president Danilo Medina (2012-2020) of the opposition Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), were among those sent to trial on charges relating to the so-called ‘Operation Antipulpo’ (Anti-Octopus), a probe into a high-level corruption network that has implicated key figures in the previous administration.
