BRAZIL: Heading off an Indian-MST alliance

With the movement of the landless, the MST, still prosecuting their `Red April' campaign of land invasions, the government of President Lula da Silva was shaken when indigenous organisations announced that they were considering an alliance with the MST to press their own land demands jointly.
