René Préval was finally sworn in as president of Haiti on 14 May, more than three months after the elections. Haiti will not have a fully functioning government until June, however, when the last few disputed seats in the national assembly are decided. Préval's party, Lespwa, which will not have a majority in either the senate or the chamber of deputies, will try and stitch up a coalition in the meantime before Préval has to negotiate with the national assembly over a new prime minister, who will in turn choose a cabinet.End of preview - This article contains approximately 968 words.
