VENEZUELA: Is Maduro looking for a way out?

There are increasing reports that the US pressure campaign on Venezuela’s authoritarian government is beginning to take its toll on President Nicolás Maduro. With around 15,000 US troops, a fleet of warships, and the world’s largest aircraft carrier stationed in the Caribbean, Maduro seems increasingly concerned that this firepower is aimed at him, rather than the drug trafficking boats that are the purported focus of the US military build-up.
