ECUADOR: Correísmo in existential legal battle

Ecuador’s main opposition party, the left-wing Revolución Ciudadana (RC) that was founded by former president Rafael Correa (2007-2017), was handed a nine-month suspension on 6 March as an investigation continues into its financing of the 2023 presidential campaign. RC has decried the suspension as an act of blatant authoritarianism by a judiciary that it claims is increasingly in hock to the wishes of President Daniel Noboa.
