CAYMAN ISLANDS: Even with boosted rolls, UDP loses

If the ruling United Democratic Party (UDP) expected increased support in the general election on 11 May after boosting the electorate by about a quarter with some 3,000 new 'belongers', it couldn't have been more mistaken. The party was decisively swept from office by the People's Progressive Movement (PPM), led by Kurt Tibbetts, which took 9 of the 15 elected seats in the legislative assembly. Originally scheduled for 17 November 2004, the elections were postponed due to the disruption caused by Hurricane Ivan.
