BOLIVIA: Disputed official claims on indigenous U-turn over Tipnis

Within a few days of setting in motion the community by community consultation of the population that lives in the indigenous territory and national park, Isiboro Sécure (Tipnis), the government was reporting overwhelming support for the construction of the controversial Villa Tunari-San Ignacio de Moxos and rejection of the law that bars any such works in the Tipnis. Those opposing both the highway and the consultation say these results are phoney.
